Silent Films Illustrated With Commentaries By:

About Lupu Pick's "Napoleon Auf St. Helene" (1929)

Silent Guest Stars: Herr James Roots, Herr Neil Midkiff und Herr Steve Joyce

Herr James Roots asked: "The English government defeated Napoleon? How? By filibustering him until he surrendered?"; and what was the English army doing while all this blowhardery was going on in Parliament?".

Und Herr Neil Midkiff answered: "From Gilbert & Sullivan's _Iolanthe_:

"When Wellington thrashed Bonaparte,
As every child can tell,
The House of Peers, throughout the war,
Did nothing in particular,
And did it very well...."

Then, Herr Graf Ferdinand Von Galitzien said and sang: "Not to mention an old European Northern song that refers to so cruel battle that says ( Teutonic simultaneous translation ):

"My, my, at Waterloo Napoleon did surrender
Oh yeah, and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way
The history book on the shelf
Is always repeating itself"

Finally Herr Steve Joyce joined and recited: "Then there's the one that goes:

"Many years after Waterloo caused a fall from power
He turned up in a role in "The Thirteenth Hour"!
